We purchased the 1957 Allis Chalmers D17 in December of 2023, with help of the Alpena FFA Alumni. The tractor was purchased from a local dealership in Alpena. After purchasing the tractor, we performed visual inspections and a compression check of the engine and discovered the engine and transmission were in good working condition. We replaced the following items on the tractor: rear back tire, rod linkage, portion of the fuel line, sediment bowl, fan belt, ignition switch, and carburetor kit. We unfroze the snap-coupler draw bar, rewired the lighting system, straightened and removed dents from the hood and unfroze the hood latches. We replaced the fenders and reshaped and repaired the grill. We primed and painted the entire exterior of the tractor including hand painting the side emblems. We replaced the steering wheel, cleaned and polished the front emblem, replaced the rubber end caps for the hydraulic and accelerator knobs, and installed a new tie-on cushion seat.
