My great grandfather's 1950 John Deere model A tractor has been on the family farm for almost 75 years. Through the passage of time and years of neglect, this tractor needed much love and restoration. I wanted to give this tractor a new life so it could finally return to the fields it once knew. Through many hours, sweat, some tears and new found patience, I was able to bring an old family member, “Dilly” back to the farm. Through this project I have conducted more research than I ever thought I would need. Through the knowledge of family, neighbors, newfound friends and a trusty old John Deere Service Manual, I was able to complete this restoration. I have learned more than I ever thought possible about the restoration process, stories about my tractor, great grandfather and other family stories of times gone by that are irreplaceable. When beginning this journey, I thought I would end up with a restored tractor. However, I have gained memories to last a life time.
